About Louisville Structural Engineer
Louisville Structural Engineer is a referral service. When you call or send a request through this site, your details go to an independent professional engineer licensed by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors who covers your part of the Louisville area.
We are not an engineering firm and we do not provide engineering services. We are not a directory either — you are not handed a list to work through. One engineer picks up the job and calls you back.
Why an engineer rather than a contractor
This is the part worth being blunt about. A foundation repair company will inspect your home at no charge and give you a quote. That is a genuine service and they are often good at it, but they are in the business of selling repairs. A professional engineer charges a fee, sells nothing else, and is the only party in the process with no financial interest in what the answer turns out to be.
Sometimes the answer is that the crack you have been worrying about for two years is shrinkage and needs nothing at all. A repair company is not well placed to tell you that.
What we ask of engineers in the network
- A current Kentucky PE license, verifiable with the state board
- Professional liability insurance
- A written report, not a verbal opinion
- Residential experience specifically — this housing stock has its own failure patterns
- A realistic callback time rather than an optimistic one
How we are paid
Engineers pay us for the referral. You are not charged anything for using this site, and the fee you are quoted for the work is set by the engineer.
Verifying a license
Ask any engineer for their PE license number and check it against the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. It takes about a minute and is worth doing however you found them. For work in Southern Indiana, verify with the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency instead — the two states license separately.
